When she was only 19, she decided to move in Los Angeles and pursue acting. To support her family, Handler began to work as an actress. Handler aged at the age of 21 was able to concentrate on stand-up comics full time when she discovered her story telling skills. Handler started her stand-up career on her role on the Oxygen Network's Girls Behaving Badly, a reality show with a hidden-camera/practical comedy. It ran from 2002 to2005. Handler then started appearing in other programs such as Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler appeared on The Tonight Show for a period of time as a correspondent. Handler's big break was in 2006 after she started hosting her own program on E! The Chelsea Handler Show. The show ran for two seasons. Handler later performed in the US as part of the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour.
